The Understory Dispatch
One of the best parts about newsletters is the community that you are part of. Yes, there are thousands upon thousands of newsletters floating around. But when you compare those to the general population at large, it is a tiny percentage of the population that start a newsletter and stick with it for any appreciable period of time.
There are a few platforms out there on the market, but Beehiiv has taken the market by storm. I started using Beehiiv with my more or less defunct newsletter, “The Friday File,” and liked it a lot from the get-go. But I have yet to even scratch the surface of its capabilities…but that changes today.
Today, I’d like to introduce you to my friend Wade Skalsky. I’ve been talking to Wade for a while now, probably at least 18 months. We have similar takes on the world, and we both have relatively similar services that we offer the world (he has coined the phrase “Writing as a Service,” and the only thing that upsets me about it is that I didn’t think of it first).
Anyway, his newsletter is well worth a follow. Is it a follow? Maybe it is just a sub. Whatever you want to call it, he brings an invaluable perspective to “escaping the gulags” and creating something of value to sustain yourself.
The Understory Dispatch is his digital digs, and you can sign up write here.
Yes, I made that miserable pun.
