To passport bro or no

Depends on your circumstances, tbh

Should you be a passport bro?

I recently saw a tweet by WiFi money plant (great follow btw), talking about how you rarely see anyone in their 40s tweeting. And he’s right.

This has given way to the rise of 25-year-old “thought leaders” who have largely left their home countries in favor of the inexpensive and beautiful Latin American (LATAM) countries. Now, I have absolutely nothing to say against this. If I were to go back to my 20s, I would probably do the same. But I am not in my 20s and haven’t been…for a while.

What is ‘passport bro’?

In a nutshell, the passport bros are the Dakota Robertsons and guys of his ilk. Usually Brits, Canadians, or Americans from a crappy or crazy expensive/restrictive part of the country.

I think Dakota is 25. No kids, no wife. Read that as: limited responsibilities outside of himself and his online presence and business.

I am not here to hate on Dakota. Some of the things he says are useful in their own right. But to put bros like him on a pedestal is kind of stupid. Understanding how to curate a large online audience is a very poor substitute for the lessons that life throws at you with age.

What am I?

I am not the anti-passport bro. In fact, and I will expand on this next week, I was offered two jobs by the U.S. Navy in back-to-back years (2019 & 2020) to move to the Mediterranean. But ultimately, those sorts of things are a lot harder when you have roots somewhere. We ended up turning them both down because we weren’t an Army brat family (my active duty years were short and involved no moves).

I always bring receipts. Mtf next week.

No, my entire focus in this whole thing that I am building is geared toward the men out there who are in their 30s or 40s, have a family, are tied down, and are maybe rooted in their church and their community. They coach Little League in the summer. And they are tired of living and dying in a cubicle farm.

Take care, gents. Beat your kids at H-O-R-S-E or take them to the park. We will worry about making money come Monday.
