College town pizza & raw milk

Two of my favorite things are worth the drive

We don’t live there anymore actually neither of us have since we were teenagers, but we both grew up in Lawrence, Kansas.

That probably means nothing to you, unless you follow college hoops. If you do, you know exactly where I’m talking about. Lawrence, and the University of Kansas in particular, is home to the invention of basketball. The Jayhawks are one of college basketball’s blue blood teams. Ironically, I never really cared much about that.

But growing up in a college town was fun. The downtown is cool, the city itself is mostly very nice and fairly clean, and there were always loads of pretty girls around that I was too scared to talk to (true story).

one of the most iconic places in Lawrence food wise is a little pizza joint called Pizza Shuttle. It is cheap, it tastes good, and up until last year, it had been in the same place some 1984. It was funky with lots of homegrown art on the walls and ceiling tiles.

The cool thing about places like this is that we get to share the same pizza with our kids that we grew up on. I used to eat lunch there twice a week when I was mowing putting greens before I enlisted. My wife and I had lunch dates there when we dated. So many

Conveniently, we found a farm that sells raw milk South of town, and Pizza Shuttle is on the south side of town! So we like to kill two birds with one stone and conveniently grab pizza for the 40 minute drive home. Is it cheap? Not really for a family of eight. But we’re getting a lot more out of it than pizza and milk.

This doesn’t have anything to do with writing or SEO. Thank God! Life is made up of much more than that. I’m just thank I stumbled across freelancing eight years ago so I could build the life I want. It really isn’t for everyone, but if you can swing it, there’s no matching the freedom that you will have.
